On August 4th, 2021 a destressed Camille Moore made the following post on her Facebook page. Stolen Horse International-NetPosse Missing and Stolen Equine was tagged many times by our volunteers and supporters. We love happy ending stories, especially ones like this one. So many people came together to help bring a lost horse home. Does it get any better than this?
“Hi all! Our horse, Tonto, ran off in the Tijuana Estuary/Imperial Beach area today after his rider fell off. He was still in full tack (brown synthetic western saddle, black smx saddle pad with red tribal print, and a red biothane headstall). Please PM me or text me if you’ve seen him or possibly know his location!”
Thanks to that post and the help of others, Tonto is home safe. He had been missing for three days. A special thanks go out to law enforcement, the San Diego Humane Society and a Navy helicopter pilot who spotted Tonto running free in a field on Friday, August 6, 2021.
The horse ran away and had been missing since a rider fell off of the horse the previous Tuesday. The rider was not hurt.
Officer Paulay, a SDHS officer and experienced rider, joined Katie Gibson to search for Tonto on August 6th. Other officers joined the search on foot.
Camille Moore, tells more on a Facebook post and says, “Tonto has been found and returned home safely! HUGE thank you to Corporate Helicopters in San Diego, and pilot Stephen Orate for taking us out to look for him. Thank you to Emma from the Tijuana River Valley Equestrian Association-TREVA, for her dedication and communication with Border Patrol and others to ensure Tonto would be found. Lastly, a huge thank you to San Diego Humane Society for deploying officers on horseback to locate and rescue Tonto. BIG thank you for everyone sharing this post, we couldn’t have done it without you!! Tonto was found in a wash off of Sunset Trail.”
