Bye Bye Stolen Horse International

There's no denying that the coronavirus has created complex challenges for nonprofits, especially those relating to money. Finding an industry or sector of society that COVID-19 has not impacted would be difficult, and the nonprofit sector is no exception.

According to a study released by the philanthropy research group Candid and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy in 2021, more than one-third of U.S. nonprofits were in jeopardy of closing within two years because of the financial harm inflicted by the viral Pandemic.

"If you are a donor who cares about an organization that is rooted in place and relies on revenue from in-person services, now is the time probably to give more," said Jacob Harold, Candid's executive vice president, in the 2021 article, "Pandemic puts 1 in 3 nonprofits in financial jeopardy".

This ever-changing situation has hurt nonprofits. Even though the crisis has lessened, the recession has kicked in full force, and this nonprofit has to change. Will we have to cut back on our programs or close completely? How much we change depends on year-end donations.

Stolen Horse International relies on donations, fees from reports, and funds earned from the NetPosse Store. All three are down in revenue by 60 -80%. When your outgo exceeds your income,  your upkeep is your downfall.

Since nonprofits don't run at a profit, we need a financial cushion to help us continue per our usual at this time. A drop in revenue, even a small one, puts our organization at risk of severe financial distress.

Our biggest problem happened early in the Pandemic when we lost our biggest donors due to their struggles during the Pandemic. These donors supported most of our essential monthly costs.

Despite the loss of donations, our nonprofit experienced increased demand for services. That problem, combined with a critical volunteer shortage, makes it difficult for us to help the people that need our services. The professionalism we are known for and strive to achieve will only be possible with funding and more active vital volunteers.

We need your help more than ever if we are to remain throughout the year 2023. We, with your help, have supported thousands of victims and horse owners over 25 years.

Now is the time to give generously and help save Stolen Horse International. We've said it for decades, and we can't continue what we do without your help.
