CHOCTAW, Okla July 26, 2012- The most sought after horse on the planet is probably the "bomb-proof" horse. Surely one that is accustomed to black powder musket fire and cannons would come pretty close to filling that lofty description!

"Doozie" fits that description-his owner rides him in Civil War re-enactments in and around Choctaw, OK. If you have never been around black powder gunfire, well, you've missed something. It's loud-just one gun going off. If an entire regiment cuts loose, it is really something. A single cannon up close can be deafening. A horse that will tolerate this is special.

Steve Mixon had left Doozie and Katie, a 20 year old mare, at the vet's for care while he was out of town. While he was gone, somebody cut the chains on the gate and stole both horses.

Katie was actually found the next day alone, down the road, and she may have been mistreated. Her back leg was swollen and there was blood on her body. Doozie is still missing.
