Searching for Natalie's Horses Stolen from Delta OH

20 July 2021

Natalie Chvala, a Fulton County woman had three horses stolen from their pasture last week. She is desperate to find them and needs your help.

It appears that the pasture where the horses were pasture was 'baited' so that the horses would stand in a particular place. Cracked corn,  shoe prints, and tire tracks were found where the electric fence had been cut.

Natalie contacted Stolen Horse International-NetPosse Missing and Stolen Equine on Facebook and then filed a report for all three horses on their website, www.netposse.com

Natalie does not live on the property but goes there daily to care for her horses. The property is not visible from the road so one thought is that the thieves had inside information on where the horses were located. A Silver pickup truck pulling a white and silver trailer was seen at her property on the evening of July 13th.

"One of the top excuses I hear from horse owners who do not believe their horses can be stolen is how their property is not seen from the road and would be hard to access without neighbors seeing someone do so. The horse owners also think that if a neighbor sees someone at the property that they will report it to the owner or to law enforcement. This is not the case more often than not with similar cases filed on our website. This is just one of a multitude of cases we have dealt with over 24 years that proves this line of thinking wrong," says Stolen Horse International founder, Debi Metcalfe.

Authorities are investigating the theft that occurred in the 1000 block of County Road 5 in Delta. On or about July 14, 2021, suspect(s) broke the fence and stole three horses:

• Dawn, a white mustang mare, estimated at 14 to 15 hands high and 16 to 18 years old, with subtle liver-color ticking, a thick, wavy mane, and a faint number tattoo under her mane on the left side of her neck.

• Sugar is a red and white quarter-paint cross mare, estimated at 14-15 hands high and 16-18 years old. She needs medication to help her with arthritis and walks with a limp.

• Whiskey, a black and white paint mare with a star and a snippet., estimated at 14-15 hands high and 16-18 years old. The right nostril has a small scar and the left eyelid may have suture marks from a previous injury. He is mostly black with a few patches and has very small socks on the left front and rear.

The total value of this loss is $6,000.

It is very important that the information on these horses is posted in public places. Stolen Horse International has an individual flyer that can be downloaded to your computer in a PDF document and a flyer with all three horses pictured. Not everyone is on the internet and even fewer are on Facebook. Even if people are on Facebook there are billions of account holders and so many people will never see the post about Natalie's horses. As great as Facebook is, it is not a cure-all for getting information out.

"It is not only horse owners that can see these horses, says Debi Metcalfe. "We had one case where a horse was recovered because someone posted a flyer in a beauty shop. An older woman who was getting her hair permed saw the flyer and knew where the horse in question was located. She called law enforcement and the stolen horse was found, arrests were made and the horse went home.

Please, go to the links below and print a flyer(s) of your choice and post them in feed stores, horse events, restaurants, and gas stations around horse sales, tack stores, and anywhere that people congregate. Think outside the box of where you think you should post them. Share the information not just on Facebook but on Craigslist, the Next-Door app, and other social media outlets.

If you have any information concerning this crime that could lead to the arrest and incarceration of the person(s) involved, contact the Fulton County Sheriff's office at 419-335-4010, Stolen Horse international via their website or info@netposse.com,  Natalie Chvala through a Facebook message on her page, Searching For Natalie's Horses or by emailing nchvala@yahoo.com.
