On June 23, 2013 in Thomaston, GA, two separate thefts were reported in which barns were broken into and property taken.

In the first one, on Basin Creek Road, five saddles, five bridles, and five saddle blankets were stolen.

The second instance occurred at a house in Thomaston where someone broke into a barn behind the house to take two chain saws, two weed eaters, two blowers, and three fishing poles, with a total value of about $530.

On the previous day, sheriff's deputies responded to another burglary call where guns and electronics were taken with a total estimated value of approximately $3400.

The following day, an elderly woman returning to her home with her son after hip replacement surgery and a stint in rehabilitation therapy found her home open and ransacked. Missing was a 2005 Tacoma pickup and more than $9000 in electronics, furniture, lawn equipment, and collectibles.

The sheriff's department is investigating all of the thefts as being possibly related.
