Clifton Ray Goines Facing Additional Livestock Theft Charge

Clifton Ray Goines Facing Additional Livestock Theft Charge

08 September 2020

Navarro County, Texas (8 September 2020)—Clifton Ray Goines, 74, currently being held in lieu of $40,000 bond for theft and theft of three horses and cattle, is being charged with an additional theft of livestock charge after it became apparent he was involved in the theft of a fourth horse.

The paint horse was reported missing on Saturday from a property near Southeast CR South of Kerens. Investigators recalled that a horse matching this description was sold prior to the theft of the three stolen horses recovered. They contacted the buyer who confirmed he had purchased the horse on August 22nd and then later sold it to an auction house. The auction house acknowledged that the horse was then sold to a buyer in Odessa and shipped. Detectives notified the buyer in Odessa and the horse’s owner is making arrangements to pick up the horse.

Sheriff Elmer Tanner was pleased to say that it was the hard work and dedication of all involved in the earlier case of the three stolen horses that led to this case being quickly solved.
