Family desperately searches for missing Kirkland horse

carrieMissingNYAug13flyersm.JPGKIRKLAND, N.Y. (WKTV) –The owners of Oriskany Creek Farm in Kirkland have been missing one of their horses for two weeks.

Rebecca Czarnocki says on the morning of August 1, she realized her 26-year-old mare had been taken from an enclosed pasture during the night.

One horse rescue organization, NetPosse.com deals with thousands of stolen horse cases. The founder started the non-profit organization 15 years ago when her own horse was stolen and she says it’s an increasing problem in recent years. She’s also concerned that if horse slaughter houses open in the U.S. that it may get worse.
