Lost horse eludes would-be saviors in Pennslyvania

Losthorseeludeswouldbesaviors6-17-11.jpgJune 10, 2012 - He appeared weak, his ribs showing clearly through his emaciated abdomen. His skittish behavior, onlookers guessed, came from a life of little human contact.

A frightened young horse, lost and hungry, paced nervously in the loose circle of people who had come to save him from homelessness and give him a safe place to sleep.

His would-be saviors had brought buckets of water and feed grains, fresh apples and carrots, ropes and bridles in the hopes of coaxing - or dragging, if need be - the young horse that had been roaming their Penn Township neighborhood for several days to a nearby barn where he could stay until claimed by his owners or taken to a horse rescue program.
