City officials are looking for witnesses
Tell Your Neighbors About Patch City officials are seeking witnesses to the dumping of a skeleton they believe to be a horse’s head.
"In my six years of serving on city council, this is a first," said City Councilman Matt Staniszewski. "I’ve received strange phone calls in the past, but this takes the cake so far to find a horse’s head here in the heart of the city."
Staniszewski, who also serves as the public works director, was called to an alley Monday evening where he discovered the remains near Third Street and Jefferson Avenue--a heavily-populated residential section of the city.
“The odor was unbearable as soon as I got out of my car,” he said.
The remains were immediately and safely removed from the area, he said.
A resident near the scene told him a suspicious white pickup truck circled the block numerous times during the weekend, but a license plate number was not retrieved.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Washington Police Department at 724-223-4226 or Staniszewski’s office at 724-225-2781.
