Saddle thief sentenced to 30 days for theft

Saddle thief sentenced to 30 days for theft

29 April 2020

Canada - April 29, 2020

Brant Tyler Williams was caught in the act of stealing a saddle from a Fort Macleod resident on February 1, 2020. He may have gotten away with it if he had just brought a horse along with him.

Another man saw Williams with the saddle and suspected that a theft of the saddle was taking place. He chased Williams until he dropped the saddle and ran.

The owner later confirmed that Williams had not right to the saddle and that it was her saddle.

Williams pleaded guilty on Thursday, April 23rd in Lethbridge provincial court to one count of theft under $5,000 and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. However, he has been released since he was credited for the time he had already spent in jail.

Additional charges may be addressed in July as he is scheduled to return to court for those charges.
