Lost Tennessee Walking Horse found in Cherokee National Forest

Stolen Horses International says Susie, a chestnut colored 5-year-old Tennessee Walking Horse, was found in the Cherokee National Forest on Wednesday afternoon. A man found horse tracks near a church in the Mt. Pleasant and Cooper Road area and followed them into a field where the horse was found, still wearing its saddle.

Katie Webb, Susie’s owner, said her good friend Bobby Cornett found Susie.

“He was worried about me when I got thrown off and he wasn’t going to give up until he found her,” said Webb.” “She was in the location he thought she was in and she sure was, she was down in that area.”

Webb says Susie was in good condition despite being alone for four days in the woods.

“She was in real thick brush and she was tangled up,” said Webb. “we don’t know how long she was tangled up but she’s alright. She just has a little mark on her head right there and one on her girth. but other than that she’s perfect.”

According to Stolen Horses International, the horse was spooked and a rider was thrown Saturday while trial riding in the Citico Creek Wilderness area in the Cherokee National Forest. The horse was last seen near the Mt. Pleasant area corner of Cooper Road in full gear with saddle and bridle.
