Mariska was filmed by her owners opening her stable door, walking over to other stables and opening them as well. It appears that this Friesian mare has a talent for escaping by letting herself through gates in the yard. When Mariska wants to eat there is no problem getting into the feed room for this mare.
The video has become an online sensation with over 584,653 views. Although it was shot for entertainment purposes there is a lesson to be learned from watching Mariska.
What we at Stolen Horse International find more interesting about this video is how easy it is for a horses to open doors in the barn and the gate at the pasture. Is it possible that some of the many missing horses that disappeared withouta trace did the same?
Perhaps it would be smart to put a snap hook on stall doors? What do you do to ensure that your horse stays where you put them?
