HORSE ATTACK - Horse shot and left to die after attempted horse theft

24 July 2020

Talk about senseless cruelty...

A seven-year-old child’s mare was shot in the head and left to die after an attempted horse rustling, between the hours of 8 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday morning. Her grandparents found their granddaughter’s horse badly injured and left to suffer during a failed five-horse theft on their family farm in Luling Texas. The mare, Midnight, was bleeding profusely from the head wound and also had a broken shoulder, and her injuries resulted in her death.

There are details we can’t share at this time, as there is an ongoing investigation by the local Caldwell County Sheriff‘s crime unit. Guardians of Rescue and Director of Cruelty Intervention Chris Limón will be doing all we can to assist. Chris is also helping to find another horse friend for the grieving child.

Guardians have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thief/thieves. Anyone with information should contact Deputy Townsend at 512-398-6777, or Guardians of Rescue at 888-287-3864.

Our hearts go out to Midnight, all the family, and to the poor child who had to get this terrible news about her best friend. There is no doubt more to this sad story, and we will update you when we know more.

Together we save them,
Guardians of Rescue
