Case Update: Justice for Rosie and Rubies – Happy Dance Time!
We’re thrilled to share some incredible news about a case that’s been close to our hearts. Our founder received a message last night from horse owner Sheri Archambeault with the following update:
"Hi. I wanted to let you know some good information on our case. Mr. Haywood, who stole my horses, Rosie and Rubies, out of Washington, was convicted today on two counts of first-degree theft."
It’s rare for victims of livestock theft to see justice served, and this is truly a moment worth celebrating. A Look Back: How Rosie and Rubies Were Reunited
Rosie and Rubies were stolen from Oakville, Washington on October 13, 2020. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the community and law enforcement, both horses were recovered safely.
On November 25, 2020, Grays Harbor Sheriff’s detectives recovered the horses from a residence in Bend, Oregon. The 56-year-old suspect admitted to the theft. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, immediate arrest was delayed, but the suspect was ultimately charged in Grays Harbor Superior Court with two counts of first-degree theft of livestock, a Class B felony.
Sheri Archambeault expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who shared alerts, printed flyers, and supported her throughout this difficult time. “Thank you for helping bring my horses home,” she said. We echo her appreciation for all who helped make this happy ending possible.
