WELLFLEET, MA – What is happening to the tails of horses in Wellfleet, MA?  In two incidents an unidentified suspect(s) removed the hair from the tails of two horses from different owners over the course of several days this month.  Although the tail was not completely removed there were sections that had been cut off. The horses were not injured.

Police suspect the stolen hair is being used to make jewelry. The owners of the horses have offered a reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the thief. Police asked anyone with information about horse hair jewelry being either made or sold in the area to contact the animal control officer at the Wellfleet Police Department at 508-349-3702.
