Thousands Searching for Bullet, missing from Lincoln County, NC

A possible horse theft in Lincoln County has the owner asking for assistance in locating his horse.

According to Stolen Horse International, also known as NetPosse, a nationwide nonprofit helping victims for over 28 years, and located in NC,  the horse, Bullet, may have been stolen from a property in the Vale/Northbrook area in Lincoln County.

The nonprofit is distributing NetPosse Alerts, which are similar to 'missing children' alerts, through social media connections and their mailing list. These alerts are crucial in our efforts to find Bullet.

Bullet disappeared from his property in the Vale/Northbrook area of Lincoln County. Initially, his absence was thought to be a case of a missing horse. However, it is now believed that Bullet was stolen. The incident occurred between the night of July 12th and the morning of July 13th.

Bullet, a male (gelding) with a distinctive buckskin color, has a unique brand on his right front shoulder-the letter "R" encircled by a horseshoe. This distinct feature is not just a mark; it's a crucial identifier that could lead to his recovery.

Michael Cabiness, Bullet's owner, is puzzled by the circumstances of his disappearance. He shares, "There were no signs of damage to the fence. Usually, if one of my horses leaves the pasture, I find hoof prints in the yard where they tried to get back in, but I saw none of that. It’s really as if he just vanished into thin air." This unusual situation raises concerns about a possible theft.

Michael continues, "It seems like someone must have opened a gate and taken him. Since none of my horses wear halters, I get the feeling whoever came for him was well-prepared. Bullet was probably the most likely target because of his leg injury from when his previous owners used him in competitions. That injury means he can’t run away to escape someone."

You will find Bullet's pictures, contact information, updates on his webpage, and a printable flyer in his NetPosse.com listing, where you can also see any updates or leads.

“Circulating Bullet's flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horse could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of Stolen Horse International. Her advice underscores the urgency of the situation and the importance of your role in the search. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post Bullet’s flyer in public places as well.”

Please, help me find my beloved Bullet." Michael's plea carries the emotional weight of a horse owner who has lost a beloved companion. Your help in finding Bullet is not just a search, it's a mission to reunite a heartbroken owner with his cherished horse.

Michael reported the disappearance of his horse Bullet to the Lincoln County Sheriff's office and Stolen Horse International. He pleads, "anyone with any information, no matter how small, is asked to contact their office with case number 202503816, or reach out to Michael directly at 828-292-1571.
