Local nonprofit Stolen Horse International is helping equine protection agency Habitat for Horses search for a missing pony named Reynolds. His owners suspect he was stolen from their La Marque property because their fence had been cut.
The 6-year-old horse was turned over to the organization after he was rescued from abusive conditions.
"All the horses come here from law enforcement. They are abused, neglected or seized horses. Reynolds was given to Habitat for Horses two years ago as a result of a seizure," Jerry Finch, president of Habitat for Horses, said in a prepared statement. "Reynolds had never been owned by someone that cared for him until he came to us. Everyone at the rescue is heartbroken over this."
Finch said this is the first time something like this has happened in 20 years of Habitat for Horses. He has contacted the LaMarque Police Department and is actively looking for Reynolds with the help of Stolen Horse International, which aids in the recovery of stolen horses.
Reynolds is a bay quarter horse who can be identified by a small star-shaped marking on his face. Anyone with tips on his whereabouts can contact Habitat for Horses at 409-935-0277 or the La Marque Police Department at 409-938-9269.
