MISSING EQUINE Chotchee , Near Apple Valley, CA, 92307

NetPosse Report ID # : 1676 (1701)
Description : Chotchee is a dapple grey mustang gelding with sarcoids. He was one of 5 horses my neighbors were caring for. They knew that the 2 old mares I had needed to go to a rescue, and that I was keeping the other 3. I finally found a rescue with a sanctuary for those two mares, (chestnut Appaloosa with snowflake markings and small, black Mustang mare.) Both these mares were aged and had laminitis so they couldn't be ridden. I called caretakers June 23 to tell them I'd be by to pick up my 5 horses to take to the rescue. I was told that she would be home to open the gate for me. I arrived with rescue early that morning to find only 2 horses that were mine. Caretaker told me that a stranger came and asked them if they had any free horses for him to take to Mexico to sell. Caretaker showed the man my 2 old mares. He loaded them onto his trailer and caretaker then said that he may as well take the one with cancer also. Chotchee does not have cancer; they are sarcoids. He's had them his entire life. Man then loaded Chotchee onto his truck and drove off. I asked caretaker if she got a phone number or name from the person she gave my horses to and she said no. I asked why I wasn't asked before she gave my property away and she said, "I thought I was doing you a favor and now I don't understand. Why are you upset?" I told her that she at the very least she owed me a phone call to tell me someone was interested in them. I also reminded her that I had said I was looking for a rescue for my two old mares, and now that I found a rescue my horses were gone. Chotchee is very special to me, and so are the others. I raised Chotchee from a 3 month old colt, and that he has had sarcoids his whole life. He is dapple grey with a large sarcoid on his left hip. He can't be ridden due to sarcoid behind his withers on his back.
