If you need brand ideas you may want to take a look at the 2014-2015 State of Alabama Livestock Brand Book. Keep in mind that this is an older copy and is not up to date. 

The Alabama Livestock Brand Book contains a listing of the current brands registered with the Department of Agriculture and Industries. Branding is not required by law in Alabama. However, no person is permitted to use a brand until the brand is registered and a Certificate is issued by the Stockyards and Brands Section of the Alabama
Department of Agriculture and Industries.

RENEWAL OF BRANDS AS OF 2015 (This is to be used as an example. Check with the AL Department of Agriculture and Industries for updated information.)
All brands must be a renewal on or before October 1, 2015 and each three years thereafter due to changes in state law.

RECORDING FEES AS OF 2015 (This is to be used as an example. Check with the AL Department of Agriculture and Industries for updated information.)
The fee for brand registration is $20.00 for the first location on the animal and $4.00 for each additional location on the animal. There are a total of eight locations on the animal for brand use.

All brands in the book have been arranged alphabetically, numerically, and by symbols in alphabetical order as follows: Animals, Arrow/Arrowheads, Bar, Barrel, Black belt, Boomerang, Check mark, Circle/Quarter Circle, Diamond, Dot/Period, Firecracker, Fish, Hat, Heart, Hexagon, Horseshoe, Octagon, Oval, Ox Yoke, Pipe, Pitchfork,Plus/Cross,Rafter, Shamrock, Slash, Snake,Spade,Spear, Square/Half square,  Star/Sunshine,State,Teardrop,Tree,Triangle, Trident,\Vavc.
