Missy is a quarter horse mare who took off after being spooked while her owner, Christie Sanders, was riding her on the Fourth of July.

"I really don't want to go into thinking that she won't come home, because I could never replace her," Sanders said.

She said they were riding in the fields behind her barn in Sprakers when they came upon a fallen tree right in their path.

"We just ran right into a tree," she said. "It knocked me out, and she took off."

Sanders suffered a black eye and had to have stiches in her lip. Four days later, Missy is still missing.

"I miss her every day," Sanders said. "You're used to coming out and hear her whinny every day, and you don't get it."

Sanders has owned Missy for three years. She said she spent years training Missy for barrel racing, and they have a very close bond. Missy is still wearing her saddle, as far as Sanders knows, and has a white star in between her eyes.

Sanders said she is not giving up, even as the days go on. She is offering a $500 reward for the safe return of her horse.
