Local horse stolen from rodeo
by Shari Small

Last weekend, Chad Krainock took his horse Scorpion to a professional steer wrestling competition.  Sometime late in the rodeo Saturday night, the horse, who is valued at $30,000, vanished without a trace.

"Someone could have liked the way he look, thought he was neat looking, or they walked through the barn and found the plainest looking horse that didn't have a blaze on him or didn't have any white on him, you know it could have been for any reason," says Krainock.
Many who are involved in the rodeo circle and law officials nationwide are on the lookout for the horse thief.

13-year old Scorpion is described as:
 -Quarter Horse Gelding
 -15.1 hands
 -1100 lbs.
-Solid Bay with no white markings

Some tips for horse owners to prevent horses from being stolen include: be alert in unfamiliar places, lock stalls or surrounding areas if not in a familiar area, use freeze branding or tattoos for identification, have current papers on hand, and if the horse goes missing, report it ASAP.
