8/31/2005 9:58:06 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time--Everyone who knows Roper and Loden are thrilled that they are back! They were greatly missed and we are now taking more precautions than ever to be sure that this never is able to happen again!
So the horses were stolen on August 3rd, 2005 in the evening. They were stolen right out of their paddock in the middle of the night from a camp I had been lending Roper to for the summer. As soon as I found out I was heartbroken. To think that someone could have taken her from a kid’s camp and to think that of all 60 horses 1 had to be mine!
After the first day of searching for hours on end and not finding them we went to the police. They looked into the leads but thought nothing was there. We continued to post flyers and send fax’s, e-mail’s and spread the word everywhere.
The people who stole them returned them loose in the driveway in which they had taken them from on August 12th, 2005 in the evening. We do believe that by the overload in media coverage and the spread by fax, e-mail, phone and mouth made the thieves nervous enough to just return the horses. The 3 people involved in this have been charged under the penalty of “theft of cattle”. They had confessed shortly after returning them.
Thank you for your generous help, we all appreciate it a lot!
Sincerely,
Crystal Hanes
