I was out of town for the holidays. My niece was caring for my animals. Sometime between the hours of 10:00 am and 7:30 pm on Christmas Day, my horses disappeared from my property. A search of a 10 mile radius of my home did not turn up a sign of the horses. Not even and pile of horse manure. When my niece arrived in the evening to feed the horses she suspected something was wrong because the horses were not standing at the fence waiting to be fed. She walked to the back side of the lot and noticed a couple poles had been pulled out of the ground and the fencing wire was laying on the ground.

LONG LANE, Mo. -- Toni Gillette said she's happy to have her "babies" back home. She's outside with her horses Willow and Ted, enjoying a backyard hangout that Gillette says just a day ago, she feared, would never happen again.

"I'm ecstatic. It's like Christmas," Toni said.

Willow and Ted disappeared on Christmas Day. Devastated, Toni says she immediately started searching her property and the 10 miles around it, hoping they had just wandered off.

But Toni said, they were gone without a trace. She expanded her search, posting flyers at horse auctions, around town, and even on Facebook. The response was enormous. There were thousands of replies and shares shares on social media. But still... nothing.

Then Sunday morning, Carl Stafford said,"I was watching KY3 news in the morning and I saw that two horses had been stolen. Then later, I was sitting at the table eating breakfast and i saw movement outside the window. I got my binoculars, looked out and saw there was a horse out there."

When another came into view, Carl realized they weren't just any horses.

"The pictures on TV were a total match for the horses, so I called" Stafford said.

"The Sheriff's went out and took pictures," Gillette explained. "Then took me down there and they were out in the back part of the pasture. I told him, well, if they're mine, they'll come up."

And, that's exactly what they did. With help from neighbors, Toni loaded Willow and Ted up into a trailer, and headed home.

Reunited and overjoyed, Toni said the past week was an emotional roller coaster, But that it also brought her a renewed faith.
