It is with a very sad heart that we update you all today on the search for Gus & Bronco who went missing after Hurricane Harvey.

We have been searching diligently for the boys for weeks along with their owner, Tammy Toups, and her daughter, Kat Undone. No stone was unturned. Unfortunately, on Wednesday November 8, 2017, Gus’ body was located not far from Tammy’s home. This was very devastating to Tammy and her family and affected us all tremendously. The search continued for Bronco and on Friday November 10, 2017, Bronco’s body was located. We have been there for Tammy, Kat and their family through every step of this journey. While the outcome of the search for Gus and Bronco is definitely not what any of us had hoped for, there is one thing for certain, we have made lifelong friends with Tammy & Kat!

From Tammy over the last several days during this very difficult time: “I will hold on to my boys every day in my heart... in my thoughts... and in my actions... I will honor them in death as I always have in life. We will get through today... and work on tomorrow... and eventually the experiences we have can be brought forward in a positive way to help others. I pray for love... for peace... and for understanding as we move through this...as well as the many other encounters that test our human nature... God Bless you all...Thank you for everything. Thank you for the love, I am speechless, lost. Thank you for being there. More than words can express...thank you...”

As many of you know that have followed this search, Tammy Toups is a veteran of the United States Army. We thank you Tammy for having fought for our country and most of all for being our friend! You are truly an amazing lady!

11/2/17, Plea from Gus & Bronco's owner, Tammy Toups:

Asking for assistance in locating 2 missing horses - Geldings.

I am a Harvey flood victim from Jefferson County and I am looking for 2 horses that were rescued on 8/28 or 8/29 in the Harvey Flood off my porch.  We were displace for around 10 days and had great difficulty tracking down leads upon our return to Beaumont.  Here is a description of my boys.

I have a Sorrell gelding with a flaxen mane and tail.  He has a near perfect blaze in his face starting behind his bangs and crossing at an angle on his nose/mouth.  He has short white sox and longer white boots and his defining characteristic is his right rear hoof.  It was caught in barbed wire as a colt and has about 3 vertical lines forming kind of a clover shape to the outer aspect of that right rear hoof.  He knows his name and although he is very muscular he is gentle - his bridle path is growing out so it's a little spike right now.  He has a dark halter on and will lead and trailer well. This is Augustus.

I also have a red roan with kind of a strawberry blond mane and tail.  His mane is naturally thin and shorter.  His bridle path is growing out but because his mane is thinner it is not as spikey.  His defining characteristic is a scar on his left shoulder. It’s a long oval shaped hairless patch of dark skin resembling the shape of a hotdog bun where he had surgery.  He has various scaring to his lower extremities that might have occurred due to barbed wire at one time.  One of his eyes is light - blue gray... He has a dark halter, leads and trailers well and he knows his name.  This is Bronco.

My name is Tammy Toups and I am seeking assistance - any leads - to find my horses.  You can reach me at 4095040161 or my husband Mike at 4097822017.  You can text if you like.  I will return all calls and follow up on all leads.

Back Story:  I read a post that options for fostering horses was being turned down.  I was never given that option… I was put in a boat by the game warden and forced out of my flooded city to the highway.  I was forced to leave both my horses on the porch and told when I got to the highway someone with a traditional boat would bring me back in to get them.  I was not allowed back in and was told there were people with experience getting them out and to go to Ford Park with my Coggins papers and pick them up.  The people running Ford Park had a system going that was working, but other entities got involved and the animals (all types) were sent all over Texas and neighboring states without tracking in place.  I was not an irresponsible owner who just left my horses behind.  I had constant eyes on Ford Park…  Mine never made it there. Whoever got mine out has them or sold them as soon as they got them out.  I am utilizing all available resources to find them despite being homeless now with loss of both vehicles and all the resources available to a pre-hurricane/flood homeowner. These horses are my service animals.  They keep me grounded with a military service medical condition.  I am searching for leads or contact information for those involved in rescue efforts in Bevil Oaks, Texas in hopes that someone saw or knew of someone who got my horses out.  They definitively were not rescued and brought to Ford Park but were removed from my porch by someone… based on evidence, they did not drown and they did not escape.  They were taken.  If you have any resources you could send my way I would be grateful.

Thanks, Tammy

NetPosse™ Missing Equines, NR005344 Augustus aka ‘Gus’ & Bronco

DOI: August 29, 2017: Beaumont (Jefferson County), TX

Horses went missing during the flooding of Hurricane Harvey. Gus & Bronco had to be left behind by their owner due to the evacuation and they were not permitted to bring them with them behind the boat. Owner had 2 boards screwed/nailed to the porch where she left the horses. Someone was to be waiting on them in another boat for them to go back and get the horses but they weren’t allowed to return. They were told that they had rescuers out and they would bring them to Ford Center. They were never brought there or to any of the other locations that the horses/animals were sent during the evacuations. The boards on the porch were removed by someone who backed the screws out, there was no way the horses could have done that themselves.

If you know anything about the whereabouts of Gus and Bronco, please contact us immediately!! These horses are the therapy horses for their owner who is a veteran. If you see these horses or know anything about this please contact ASAP!!

Please Help Find Gus & Bronco and Bring Them Home!
