Description : Horses located at 10375 West Road, Redwood Valley, Ca. Stallion inside 3 gates and mare inside one gate were stolen from herd of 19 miniature horses. Resident reported insistent dog barking at 3:00 am. Neighbor reported in retrospect a truck and horse trailer pulled off the road into a side road in a hidden location looking suspicious at 9:30 p.m. 9/10/09. Stallion was AMHA registered and next years herd sire. He was the best horse on the ranch. The theives had to pass 17 horses to
get him. The mare was a homozygous tobiano pinto mare, also valuable. The theives were knowledgeable about these individual horses. They left the gate open to the mares' pasture we suspect to cause the others to run off and when all of them could not be found we would think they had
been lost. The mares did not leave the pasture. Report made to Sheriff on 9/11, but may not have been filed until 9/12 after officers inspected the property. Officers also believed the horses were stolen.
