I was surprised, but this woman wanted her to remain as the mare's traumas have much resolved. Paying for board was not required, as I had become very ill, and remain so. Paying no board was an absolute requirement for me allowing her to stay there. In Early July, 2014, the barn owners husband emailed me asking me to call. He was enraged and said he was taking her to slaughter or auction. Several emails went back and forth, some were blocked. This behavior I have never seen from these people. He demanded 10,000 dollars or would not allow her off the property. The local Police were horrible and did not help. I have offered them 10,000 when a long-standing disability suit is finished; it has not yet; they have known this for years. I have offered to remove the mare from the property to rescue. This offer was refused, and they now say they own the mare through a "Mass. Liens for the care of horses". And told me they don't have any interest in talking to me. I am concerned that she is at auction, heading there or on her way to slaughter or has already been euthanized at their property. These people do not have her registration papers; I do.
