Description : I have several horses. I used to breed miniatures, but I was never able to sell them because I am very fussy about the care they receive. I foolishly lent Dixie and Ginger to a woman whom I thought I knew well, and that loved horses as much as I do, with the understanding that she would call me if she could not keep them, so I could take them back. Without my knowledge, she lent them to a man who said he would train them to pull a cart. Instead, he took them to the auction, where they were sold together to a man in Great Barrington, MA, who resold them, allegedly together, to a woman who does not want to part with them. I am heartbroken this happened, I have sleepless nights worrying about them. I must know where they are. My concern is that they have a good home. I have the papers from the AMHA, and Dixie and Ginger are registered in my name. The sheriff's deputy was helpful, but the Assistant District Attorney was not and he said I do not have a case. The woman who lent them to the man who took them to auction is not cooperative, she says the man who took them is threatening. I have not been in touch with authorities in Dutchess County. I know the Great Barrington man's name who bought them at auction (he paid $285 for Dixie and $350 for Ginger), and I have written to him twice but he has not responded. I also put an ad in the Berkshire Eagle and North Adams Register but have not received any response. Update 1/15/05: Also, just yesterday, we received an update. The horse dealer in Great Barrington MA who bought them at auction sold the two minis to someone in Harrisburg PA. He said they were not in good condition when he bought them. My mother is heartbroken to hear this, but also glad to have another clue of their possible location.
