MISSING Horse - APP Flecha de la Estrella
#7321 | 02 August 2017
Name: Cinnamon
Gender: Gelding
Species: Horse
Breed: Chestnut
Description: Cinnamon is a 24-year-old red horse, featuring a small white star on its forehead and small white socks on its hind limbs. Previously utilized for polo, his mane was notably short as of August 4, 2025.
He fled during a trail ride break near Benson Lake within the Mt. Washington Wilderness area, central Oregon. At the time, he was fully equipped with a saddle and an orange halter.
I haven't given up hope and keep searching every day. It often feels like I’m living a nightmare, but I’ve met some wonderful people along the way and learned so much. Still, every time I return, I feel just as heartbroken as I did when he left.
One image shows the tack he was wearing when he was lost from Benson Lake. Cinnamon is in his early twenties with a short mane that is growing out. He has a small whisper of a star and two back socks.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
- Post NETPOSSE FLYERS
- Stick to the designated local trailheads.
- Inform the wardens of your presence.
- Many hunters are venturing into the forest, and they represent your best resource.
- Use heat-seeking drones; however, they are not always as effective as one might assume.
- Make sure you post flyers and search the areas surrounding the property.
- Pasture regions where wildlife often congregates are the most probable locations to locate him.
- Keep going back to the spot where he ran away. Often, lost horses return to this spot, looking for their owner.
- Stick with it, as progress can take some time. Don't give up on your efforts.
AUGUST 30, 2025 UPDATE: I wanted to give everyone an update on the Cinna Search.
So far, we have still not found any new signs of him since the 8th when we tracked him to Cinna Pond and found some of his tack.
We are doing a comprehensive search of every lake and pond in the region to look for signs of him. Regions shown in pink are lakes that have been thoroughly checked. Areas in blue have not.
The only potential exception to this are the Tenas lakes which, while we have not checked them for tracks, due to the high volume of backpackers during his initial disappearance, everything west of the Benson Lake trail is highly unlikely. However, they still need to be searched.
I went out again yesterday and hiked another 5.5 miles and thoroughly searched 7 lakes with no success.
Right now, we still need help from experienced hikers who are willing to hike off trail to help check lakes off of our list. If you or anyone is willing to help, please contact me on Facebook or my cell at (949) 374-4598.
I have attached a picture of the tack he was wearing when he bolted.
Thank you to everyone who has come out and helped search. I am eternally grateful to each and every one of you.
