I had to relocate my beloved horse to a different boarding arrangement during a divorce in 2021. At the time, my 10-week-old daughter had been brought to the hospital with fractures after being in the father's care while I was at work. I spent six months off work solely focused on her and her recovery and could not afford the fancy place I had Oakie boarded. Experiencing this with my daughter was the worst day of my life and the only circumstance that could cause me to switch my boarding situation quickly.
In sharing these details, I want anyone reading this to know how much I care for my horse and how awful I feel forever having to move him, though I did the best I could at the time. I received personal references from close friends about this individual, and I believed this was a place I could trust.
This caretaker has gone to NC with me since May of 2021 and seemingly abandoned or sold my horse. This horse is considered converted property and is being criminally investigated at this point in time, as the caretaker exerted unauthorized control of my property. In Indiana, criminal conversion can be committed, even through abandonment. Authorities have been able to identify another person locally who is believed to have been in possession of and claims to have information about Oakie; however, currently, this individual is demanding thousands of dollars from me in exchange for information, and I have been advised not to engage as it could be unlawful.
Authorities have still been unable to contact the individual whom I boarded Oakie with and are having difficulty proceeding without more information.
Oakie is believed to have been sold or "rescued" from Southern Indiana. At some point, it was noted by the Sheriff that this separate individual claimed that Oakie could be in Texas. Other than that, someone out there knows where he might be!
