KINGWOOD TWP. — An township woman is still searching for her horse which escaped from her paddock here on Dec. 29.
The 21-year-old Paso Fino mare, Porcelana (nickname Porci) got out of her paddock at 132 Locktown Road, at about 9 a.m.
She was spotted by a neighbor on Barbertown-Point Breeze Road and the sighting was reported to the Kingwood barracks of the State Police. Hoof prints were found on Locktown Road and Barbertown-Point Breeze Road and also on the MEI company grounds.
The area around the hoof prints has been searched on foot and by car but the horse has not been seen since, owner Susan Schaffner said.
The State Police, Kingwood Township animal control and the Hunterdon Humane Society in Alexandria Township have been notified. A reward is being offered for Porci’s safe return.
The mare is bay (reddish brown with black legs, mane and tail) and has a large white star on her forehead. She was wearing a purple halter.
Anyone with information on the horse should call Shaffner at 908-892-0510 or e-mail her at SMSchaffner@hotmail.com.
