Late on a Friday evening, Mar. 15, 2013, in Yelm, WA, two women pulling a horse trailer pulled up to a boarding barn along with a man who told the barn manager that he was a deputy sheriff. They were there to perform a "search and seizure" of the Quarter horse mare named Hellfire.
It was thought at first to be an abuse case because of forged seizure papers shown by Amanda Fischer Williams. As the investigation continued, detectives became more supicious of the barn manager's claim that the horse had been stolen. Caitlyn Danae Kennedy, the barn manager, apparently came up with the scheme in order to acquire the horse for someone else.
Kenneday has been charged with first degree animal theft and conspiracy and the case turned over to the county prosecutor. Additional charges may be pending against her accomplices.
Meanwhile, Amanda Williams has Hellfire back.
