Unknown Sorrel Quarter Horse Mare

IS SHE STOLEN?

This mare was found sometime in September or October of 2008. The lady submitting this report became aware of her around the first of October. The people finding this mare apparently did not notify authorities until November (see NetPosse note at bottom of page). It is unsure what steps have been taken to find the owner, but it is highly possible this is a STOLEN HORSE due to her healthy condition, apparent quarter horse conformation, and gentleness.

Once authorities became involved, she was quickly taken and sold at public auction on Nov. 10, 2008, at the county fairgrounds in Abilene and purchased by a NetPosse volunteer for $275. She is safe, but she needs more permanent accommodations while we attempt to locate her owners if she is stolen/missing.

NETPOSSE NOTE: When finding an estray horse (livestock), most local laws state you MUST contact law enforcement (LE) immediately. Then LE is to seize the animal, follow procedure to find owner, and if owner not found within a certain time period (usually 3 days, maybe a little more), horse is to be sold at public auction. Failure to notify authorities of found animal could result in criminal charges, and giving away or selling the found animals could, too!
