Hello Debi,
I’m writing to inform you that the remains of our mare Maybelline have been found on the mountain across from our farm. We made the climb today to confirm it was her after a hunter contacted us he had found her. There is no doubt it’s Maybelline. I’ve attached a photo I took looking back at our farm, it gives you an idea of what she left and just how high up we found her. The terrain is extremely rugged and I guess we will never know what drove her up there. She must have injured herself during the climb.
We still have no sign of Finn and hope for her sake, she has met with a better fate.
We want to thank you and your organization for all you have done to try and recover them.
Sincerely,
Kirby Hill

Subject: Finn
Hello again Angela,
Another local hunter stopped by the house the other evening to inform us he has found the remains of our other mare Finn. She was apparently about 50 yards from Maybelline’s location. We didn’t see it when we were there ourselves because it is apparently a steep ledge obscured by brush. We assume she must have fallen, probably in the dark. Since neither horse was seen after they left that day and they were so close to home, we feel they must have died or been injured rather quickly. Either way it’s hard to fathom and something that will always bother us.
Thank you and the organization for all you tried to do, especially Debi.
