In 2024, we aimed to increase the number of individuals like Sara whom we could help bring their horses home. This case exemplifies one of our many success stories, one made possible by your support.
In May 2024, Sara Brockett came to us seeking help finding her beloved stolen horse, Aubrey. With your help, Aubrey came home.
"Our pony went missing from our pasture under suspicious circumstances. I filed a report with Stolen Horse International (NetPosse). A week after, after many shares of my post about our missing pony (many of these shares coming from Stolen Horse and their volunteers and followers), I received a tip that would lead to the recovery of our pony. She had been dyed, mane and tail cut, and hidden in a barn. Stolen Horse International continued to support me, contacting our detective and prosecutor. They provided them with education regarding horse theft and provided them with the resources and previous case documentation to show that this is not a crime to be taken lightly or brushed off. As of my writing this, four juveniles and one adult are facing felony charges relating to the theft of our pony. Without the help of Stolen Horse International, I have no doubt this crime would have been brushed off by law enforcement. Stolen Horse International continues to be a sounding board, reassuring voice, source of sanity, a wealth of information, and truly wonderful help. I am grateful for everything they have done for my family and me, and I would recommend them to anyone!" - Sara Brockett, July 2024
This case is one of many where your help and support made a difference. Your gift can help someone like Sara receive assistance through our most costly victim's support program, which has been assisting the equine industry for over 27 years.
Every business has a cost of doing business, even nonprofit organizations. Here are a few of the annual costs of doing business.
Accountant: $3,323
Legal and Professional services: $1650
Internet services: $1839
Office expenses: $3000
Website: $3,816
Salaries: $0 (We are an all-volunteer run organization)
As stated earlier in the year, we are losing our current hosts and web designer after 14 years of working together. He is helping us with an updated website and new hosting, which will cost us thousands for the site, hosting SSL certificates, and licenses, an expense we had not anticipated.
Adding to this expense are the many program fees paid for the Educational Outreach program, which include, but are not limited to, subscription services, licenses, and fees. For example, all graphics and videos have costs associated with producing them. Our founder creates them for free, working hundreds of hours each year.
Your support means that Stolen Horse International-NetPosse can continue to help thousands of people each year who need our one-of-a-kind resources. We want to thank one special donor who helped make the new website possible—it could not have happened without her very generous donation- and all who have donated in the past. Your past donations have made a significant impact, and we are deeply grateful for your support.
As you can see, we are far from 'just' a social media entity. We are the only organization of our kind in the United States, and your support helps us maintain this unique position and continue our important work.
Your gifts determine whether we will be here another year. Without your donations, our doors will close. Your immediate support is crucial to our continued operation.
Can we count on your support? Every dollar makes a difference in the lives of those we serve. As a registered 501(c)(3) organization under the IRS code, individuals and corporations giving to Stolen Horse International may qualify to request a tax deduction in the donation amount.
