How to Volunteer with Stolen Horse International

Stolen Horse International relies on dedicated volunteers to help locate and recover missing and stolen horses, support victims, and raise awareness nationwide. If you are compassionate, reliable, and want to make a meaningful difference, we welcome your interest.

Step 1: Visit Our Website

Go to www.netposse.com. Register for an account or log in to your current account. Login to the website.

Step 2: Navigate to the Volunteer Section

From your profile page, select “Volunteer.” 
There you will find information about current volunteer opportunities and areas where help is needed.

Step 3: Complete the Volunteer Application

Fill out the online volunteer application form. This helps us understand your interests, skills, availability, and how you would like to help.

Be sure to:

  • Provide accurate contact information
  • Indicate the volunteer roles you are interested in (such as social media, NetPosse support, research, or outreach)
  • Agree to confidentiality and conduct guidelines
  • Upload your photo ID (Driver's license)

Step 4: Application Review

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by our volunteer coordination team. Some positions may require follow-up questions or additional screening due to the sensitive nature of our work.

Step 5: Onboarding & Training

Approved volunteers may receive:

  • Role-specific instructions and guidelines
  • Policies related to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Contact information for team coordination
  • Training or orientation as needed

Step 6: Start Making a Difference

After onboarding, you will be matched with your volunteer role and can begin supporting Stolen Horse International’s mission to bring horses home.

Some roles involve sensitive or time-critical cases and require strict adherence to guidelines.

1. Who can volunteer?
Anyone passionate about helping horses! Prior experience with horses is helpful but not required for many roles.

5. Do I need to be local?
Many roles are done remotely. Some events or hands-on roles may require participation.

6. Do I need horse experience?
Only for specific hands-on roles. Many roles, such as online support and research, don’t require horse experience.

7. Is training provided?
Yes! Role-specific guidance and training to help you succeed may be provided individually by instructional content or in the volunteer group.

8. Are volunteers insured?
No

9. Can I volunteer with friends or as a group?
Absolutely! Groups are welcome and often assigned collaborative projects or events.
