Help Wanted: Stolen Horse International Seeks Passionate Leader

Are you a dedicated advocate for equine welfare with a heart for helping victims of horse theft? Stolen Horse International (NetPosse.com) is looking for a dynamic individual to step into a key leadership role and help guide our nonprofit into the future!

Founded by Debi Metcalfe after her horse was stolen in 1997, Stolen Horse International has nearly three decades of experience in search and recovery efforts, public awareness campaigns, and support for victims. Our work involves the "NetPosse Alert" system, an "Amber Alert" for the equine industry, and a comprehensive online database that has helped with over 8,000 cases.

We are seeking an active individual to take on a hands-on leadership role running the organization, similar to the role our founder holds. If you have the time, passion, and skills to manage and grow this vital service, we want to hear from you. This isn't just a job; it's a chance to make a real difference in the lives of horse owners across the nation and beyond.

Essential skills and experience for a leadership role at Stolen Horse International include a passion for the mission, strong leadership and communication abilities, and relevant nonprofit and equine industry experience.

Key requirements often encompass:

  • Equine Expertise: A comprehensive understanding of horse care, health, handling, and management is crucial. Familiarity with the unique aspects of the equine industry is vital to assist victims effectively.
  • Nonprofit Management: Experience in managing nonprofit organizations, including aspects like budget oversight, operations, and strategic planning, is essential for ensuring the organization's sustainability and growth.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills are necessary for guiding staff and a dedicated team of volunteers. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential for working with diverse groups, including victims, law enforcement, and the public.
  • Fundraising and Grant Writing: Experience in leading fundraising efforts, grant writing, and donor retention is often a key component of an executive role in a nonprofit setting.
  • Advocacy and Education: The leader should continue the organization's educational mission by raising awareness of prevention and identification measures at events and through various media, similar to the founder's work.
  • Case Management & Data Systems: Familiarity with the "NetPosse Alert" system and online databases, or the ability to manage and improve such systems, is necessary for search and recovery efforts.
  • Compassion and Dedication: A genuine heart for helping victims of horse theft and a deep commitment to animal welfare are the foundations of the organization's mission.

Individuals should be motivated self-starters who can work independently and make a difference in the lives of horse owners.
