Franklin Runs Away—Still Missing in MD

May 20, 2013, Darlington, MD— Franklin, a 7-year old Quarter Horse pony gelding, is missing from Paddrick Road in Darlington. Brittany Hewes was given this bad news about the pony she and many others love dearly on Saturday May 18, 2013 by a friend who is leasing Franklin.

Franklin, the smaller one of several horses, was being irritated by another horse until he finally had had enough and jumped the fence. He has not been seen since.

Beside herself with worry, Brittany knew she needed help and was not prepared to search for her horse alone, so she turned to Stolen Horse International, NetPosse.com, located on the Internet at www.NetPosse.com. Immediately, the NetPosse volunteer network began compiling and disseminating information through the NetPosse Alert network to locate Franklin.

Providing horse theft education and aiding in the recovery of missing horses is what Debi Metcalfe, founder of Stolen Horse International, does best. No stranger to missing horses herself, the nonprofit organization was formed because of Debi’s personal experience after her family’s horse, Idaho, was stolen in 1997 and recovered 51 weeks later.

Now, Stolen Horse International is looking to NetPosse volunteers and news media for assistance with Franklin. Brittany needs the help of people in the community and outlying areas to find Franklin.

The horse disappeared off of Paddrick Road and could be near Church Road and Castleton Road in the Darlington area. Since horses can travel very far quickly he might have crossed into another county.

Brittany is asking everyone in the area to be on the lookout for “Frankie”, little bay pony gelding. He has four white "socks," no horseshoes, a little white on his forehead and nose, and a thick mane and tail. His eyes match his coat color, more of a lighter softer brown. They are not your average brown horse eyes. The leg color should make him stand out if seen in the woods.

Frankie is likely frightened and confused, so he might not readily emerge in strange surroundings. However, he may seek out other horses or sources of available water and grazing. Frankie is out there and needs our help.

As Debi Metcalfe is fond of saying, “Never underestimate the power of one!” It only takes one person to forward an email, post a flyer or make a phone call. Many horses are home because of every one that did just that. Now it’s Blu’s turn.

Please take time to visit www.netposse.com, click on Frankie, MD under the Hot Alerts listing to print a flyer to post in your area. Even though Frankie is a runaway, he might have been picked up by someone not knowing where he belongs and transported to another area. He might even have been picked up by someone with intentions not so honorable.

Anyone frequenting area auctions or with links to the Amish community is implored to distribute Frankie's information as quickly as possible so the chances of him leaving the area are minimized. In the meantime, Brittany is open to help in searching the woods into which he escaped.
