After a week on the loose, a 17-year-old Tennessee walking horse is back at home.

“We just got him back this morning,” owner Sandra Ward said of her horse, Biscuit, who broke out of his pen on the night of July 24, and was last seen in the area of McGruder and McNally roads. 

Ward had been searching for the missing horse for a week. The call came from a neighbor, about a mile south of her Coleman home, who looked out the window and recognized the horse as the one Ward was missing.

Ward said when she arrived, Biscuit was grazing without a care in the world.

“It’s a great way to start the week,” she said.

The horse was lame when he went missing, and other than that, there’s not a scratch on him.

“We had a nice discussion on the mile walk home,” she said. “He got a talking to.”

In addition to Ward, others helped search for Biscuit throughout the week, including by car, walks in the woods and by flying drones overhead.

Biscuit came to Ward’s home a year ago to be spoiled and well cared for, she said in a media release from Stolen Horse International at NetPosse.com

“Our farm was meant to be his retirement home,” she said. Biscuit has had a hard road in life, and barely survived the 16-mile trailer ride to their home just shy of a year ago, she said.

Ward also had contacted Midland County Sheriff’s Office, and Midland County 911 and asked residents to be on the lookout with a post at its Facebook page.
