Malibu Surfside News reported on November 1, 2016

"When one of Barbara Lyons’ five miniature horses, Marco Polo, disappeared from a Malibu pen on Oct. 22, the family went to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The story quickly went viral, thanks in part to Stolen Horse International, which shared the family’s story with its network.

But three days later, the 18-year-old horse’s fate was discovered by dogs on the ranch. The horse was found dead about 300 feet outside the pen under a pile of leaves, a common practice for one particular predator: a mountain lion."
