MISSING EQUINE, – BUDDY – IDAHO

Cascade (VALLEY COUNTY), ID Monday August 8, 2016

Monday August 8, 2016, Mark & Noralyn Hansen’s beloved therapy horse, Buddy, was reported missing from their campsite in the Boise National Forest.

Noralyn Hansen asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating their horse. Ms. Hansen advised that Buddy was last seen during the early morning hours on July 11, 2016. Buddy was attached to his high line but when Mark Hansen checked on him at 6:00am, Buddy was missing. The line that Buddy was attached to was broken. The Hansen’s have also notified Valley County Sheriff Department of the missing equine.

Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also known as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft and equine ID education and assist in search and recovery of stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.

“Buddy has been my husband’s pal and has helped him get through his retirement.”, says Noralyn Hanson. She went on to tell Stolen Horse International how her husband, Mark, told her that Will Rogers once said "The best thing for the inside of a man is the outside of a horse." Ms. Hanson said that Buddy was purchased for her husband after he had a hip replacement surgery. Her husband named him Buddy because he was going to be his buddy. She went on to say that it is so difficult for them not knowing where Buddy is and if he is okay. Mark and Noralyn searched for days after Buddy went missing from their campsite. She explained that Mark hiked in the area for 5 days looking for Buddy. There have been no sightings, no hoof prints, nothing to help them know where he might have gone. She reports that they have contacted the sheriff department and put them on notice of the missing horse.

On August 8, 2016, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Hansen and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.

You will find Buddy’s webpage with information and a printable flyer in his NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. People interested in helping can search for report number NR005010 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://www.netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=5010

“Circulating Buddy’s flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horse could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of Stolen Horse International. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post Buddy’s flyer in public places as well.”

Pictures, flyer, contact information, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Mark Hansen, Valley County Sheriff Department or Stolen Horse International with information.
