Ozark Radio News - (Douglas County) – A Douglas County couple is seeking the public’s help after losing a beloved horse.

Janeta Carr says that they lost their 19-year-old Arabian gelding, Blaze, on Saturday, May 14 after spending a day at the Flying R Ranch near Ava. During the day, her husband, Dale, fell off of Blaze and broke his leg. Carr says that they were ponying their horses behind their truck to return to the ranch when a snap broke and Blaze walked away. Janeta says she was able to follow him for about 2 miles, however, she eventually lost sight of him.

“Blaze is a 19 year old Arabian horse, and is an experienced English pleasure and long distance horse. He’s a very flashy horse and does not look his age, however, he does have several medical conditions that require special management”, Carr told Ozark Radio News.

Janeta says that after losing Blaze, she submitted a report with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, and was told by law enforcement that there wasn’t much else they could do. So she filed a report with Stolen Horse International and their online site, NetPosse, which acts as an online network for lost or stolen horses.

“Despite of heroic efforts of dozens of people, the owners of Flying R Ranch, and newspapers and social media, we were not able to locate him.” Carr told Ozark Radio News. “Blaze is a lifelong pet of mine and my husband, and we are very worried about his well being.”

You will find Blaze’s webpage with information and a printable flyer in his NetPosse.com listing.
