Personal Stories - Theft, Lost and Missing

These pages are for you to tell your story.   We can all learn from the lives of others.  If you have a story to tell send it to: stolenhorse@netposse.com  Write your name  and the name of your horse(s) in the subject line.

Idaho- It all started with the theft of one horse, Idaho in 1997.
In 1997 there was no help on the internet to help search for Idaho.  Normal methods of searching were costly.

Dusty had the power of his owners horse club and the internet in his favor.

Expresso -  "There was a BAD STUMBLE, followed by another. I suddenly found us headed to the ground. There was enough force to pop me right out of the saddle."   Expresso, was lost in the woods, alone in the Sam Houston National Forrest after he bolted from his owner.  Read Cindy's story on the search and recovery.

Pepper - On October 9, 2004 my 8 year old daughter Paige's horse Pepper was stolen from his pen in Stromsburg, Nebraska. The Sheriff's department was notified immediately as there were fresh trailer tracks leading to the pen and horse tracks disappearing at the trailer tracks. In November whoever had taken Pepper had brought him back, killed him and dumped him in the feed bunk. The knowledge that we were not alone in this and the support that we received from every single one of you that took the time to take a second look, to send an email or to post a flyer held us up and kept us strong.

Storm - On Sunday morning, Storm, our 7-year-old Palomino gelding, didn't come to the barn for breakfast. By evening, however, we got worried because he was the only one who didn't come up for dinner. I knew in my heart that we wouldn't find him because all the signs pointed to theft.--D'Ann Loop, April 26, 2006
