Hello Angela,
In a bizarre turn of events, I received an email from UPS first thing this morning saything that they were closing the case, and then, just a few minutes ago, I got a call saying that they have located the saddle in something called "overstock", almost certainly in Salt Lake City. They will be shipping it to me immediately!
Can you please close the file?

how missing: On May 6, a ReactorPanel VSD Traditional saddle with accessories - 3 girths, 2 saddle pads and a sheepskin seat cover - were shipped in a 33" x 22" x 22" box from the UPS store in Silver City, NM. While in transit, the label was removed from this box and affixed to a 16" x 24" x 25" box from Home Depot containing a toilet tank. The location and details surrounding the transfer of the label and the theft of the toilet are unknown. The toilet tank was delivered to the ReactorPanel Saddle Company in Oakland, CA on May 13, 2009. There is an open police report and an active internal UPS investigation.
