REWARD FOR STORMY'S KILLER--Click here for flyer

Stormy was stolen from owner Kathy Kennedy, January 2003, in Henrietta, NY. He was found cinched tight to a tree and deliberately shot to death a few weeks ago. He had been well cared for during the past ten months and was in perfect health per autopsy by Cornell.

As many horse folks and friends have inquired, Kathy and her family requested that the New York State Horse Council set up a restricted "Stormy Reward Fund" leading to the arrest of person or person (s) responsible. If not used for this purpose, the funds will be donated to www.netposse.com for their assistance and also the Hunter that found Stormy.

Anyone with information may call the Livingston County Sheriff's Department (585)243-7100 or the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at (585)423-9300.

Funds may be sent to:

Stormy has been found ... 12/4/03

I'm just writing to inform you that Stormy has been found.. Unfortunately, it was by a hunter.

A hunter called my parents on Thursday evening, December 4th, 2003 and told them of this horse that he had come across while hunting. My parents checked the site on Friday morning.. They had called me from the scene. They wanted to be sure it was him so they wouldn't alarm me.. I went directly to the site. He was taken to Cornell Univ. for an autopsy. They determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head.

It "appears" to be a shotgun that was in close range, but more than likely placed directly on his head when shot.. You could see where they had tied him to the tree, but had removed all halters and ropes. He was also seen by another hunter on opening day of deer season, but he did not report this to anyone.

This would have possibly occurred the beginning of November 2003. You could see that Stormy was cared for before this occurred. His feet recently trimmed, his coat was not as thick as it should have been this time of year, which leads me to believe that he was either kept inside or blanketed. His chestnuts were also peeled clean. During the autopsy, they said that he had good food in his stomach.

Horse Owner Wants Justice by Joseph Hill

The worst possible scenario became a reality for a West Henrietta woman whose horse was stolen last January.

It's been a painful year for Kathy Kennedy. Someone stole her beloved 10 year-old horse Stormy, from her barn.

On Dec. 4, a hunter in Livingston County found Stormy dead, near Hemlock Lake. Police believe someone tied the horse to a tree and shot him.

" I want justice. There are people that know who was responsible and I want to know who because the way that it ended up is so unrealistic and just so cruel," said Kennedy.

Kathy and her family hope anyone with information will call either the Monroe or Livingston County Sheriff's departments. The New York Horse Council has also developed a reward fund to help capture Stormy’s killer.
