Subject: Re: MISSING HORSE FOUND!
Hi, Angela,
The guy we sold Sunny to a year ago had mentioned in passing that he had possible buyer for Sunny, and said they were a young couple who had a place in eastern South Dakota. But then, although he had promised to do so, he would not put me in touch with them, wouldn't return our calls, etc. We asked several times. We didn't know why he wouldn't tell us where Sunny had gone, and I imagined the worst.
About two weeks ago, I had the idea of placing a classified ad in the horse section of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, thinking that if Sunny really had been bought by folks in eastern S.D., they might either see the ad or hear about it from a horsey friend. It worked – I heard from the new owners, they sent me photos, and I was able to tell them some things about Sunny's health history that I thought they would want to know. (I also was able to tell them that if Sunny ever needs a new home, they can call me!)
They are really nice, caring horse owners and Sunny looks absolutely blissful in the photos. He is shiny and healthy. He is living in a big pasture with another horse and being regularly ridden and cared for every day.
It is a gigantic weight off my heart and mind--as I am sure you can imagine. I cried for for sheer joy on the day their e-mail came. (Now I just have to work on forgiving the guy who bought Sunny from us, for needlessly inflicting so much anguish.) I've certainly learned a lot from this.
Thank you for the service you provide. I truly hope all the people listing horses with you can have a happy ending, too.
Barbara

how missing: In November of 2005 we sold Sunny to a local trainer in Delano, Minnesota, who said he would work with him and then re-sell him. The trainer promised to give us the buyers' contact information so we could be in touch with them. He has refused to do so, despite several polite phone calls and one letter. The last thing he told us was that Sunny was sold in spring 2006 to some newlyweds who planned to move him to their own place near Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

other info: This was my first horse. I very much want to let Sunny's current owners (if in fact there are any) know that if at any time they need to find him a new home, I want to buy him back. I also want to provide some medical information about Sunny that the guy they bought him from would not have passed on. Sunny is still registered to me with the APHA, although I did sign a transfer form and turn over the papers.
do agree: yes
