how missing: On Jan 31 Kelly fed the 3 horses at seven and left for school at 7:15. I brought her home at 2 pm because she had a migraine headache and went back to work. When I got home at 3:45 I got the snow blower out and started to clear out the driveway and the road to the barn. The wind was whipping snow into my face as I cleared my daily path out to the barn since we live in an area that gets a lot of snow. At that point we had approximately 18 inches of snow. I finished clearing the snow and went into the house. At 4:30 Kelly went to the barn to feed the horses and came running back into the house. She told me that Foxy was missing.
Kelly and I searched our 8 acre pasture thoroughly and found no tracks or breaks in the fence to indicate that Foxy had gotten out. Nor was she lying anywhere in the snow. We both walked along the creek to see if she had fallen in and there was no sign of her there. After dark I went to a nearby neighbors who keeps horses to ask him if he might have seen her. He had not. At 7 pm I returned home for the night. I notified my other neighbor, Jim who also keeps horses and he planned to re-walk the pasture the following morning to recheck the it and make sure that I didn't miss anything. At this point I was beginning to think that someone had taken Foxy because she was not the type of horse that ever left the pasture and was staying close to the barn due to the deep snow. A recheck of the pasture the following day did not reveal any other traces of Foxy. At this point I was certain that she was stolen and filed a police report, because I didn't want to do so until I was sure that she hadn't gotten out or had an accident in the pasture.
