Theft. Been There--Done That
by
DEBI METCALFE ""Many people think of horse theft as an
"Old West" occurrence, a problem for the likes of Wyatt
Earp or Matt Dillon. Well, Wyatt and Matt, meet Debi"
by Breanne Hill - Paint Horse Journal
"If anyone ever has the opportunity to hear Deb Metcalfe speak, please do
so!! Jenny and I had the chance a couple of years ago at the Novi Horse
Expo. It was very informative. We certainly hope she makes it back to
Michigan sometime.", Kathy & Jenny 10/30/05
Debi Metcalfe possesses first hand knowledge
of the devastation one feels when their horse is missing. She works determinedly to send out her message worldwide that
indeed, horse theft did not go out with the “Old West”.
Thousands of people have been helped by
Debi’s proactive efforts to promote horse theft awareness.
Many victims have recovered their horses because of her
organization, Stolen Horse International, Inc. and it’s
relentless NetPosse volunteers.
Now people around the world have
joined the NetPosse to lend a hand in circulation of Idaho
Alerts when a horse is missing or stolen.

"I
am a first-time horse owner and bought a chip I.D. kit and
watched the freeze branding at this year's Equine Affaire. I also
watched your talk last year and was very impressed."

Debi’s motivation comes from the heart.
The Metcalfe family’s lives were changed when their mare
Idaho, was stolen from their pasture on September 26, 1997.
Debi and her husband Harold, along with their children used
every means possible to find Idaho.
When the resources were not on the Internet, Debi Metcalfe
created them. After an exhausting 51 weeks, a flyer posted in a
convenient store in Tennessee brought Idaho home.
Their
campaign to find Idaho became so well known that others contacted
her about their stolen horses.
It was then that the foundation of today's Stolen
Horse International, Inc. was created.
Debi brings horse
theft awareness, not just to horse owners, but to the general
population. She believes that you can never
underestimate the power of one person.
Debi first book, Horse Theft. Been
There--Done That, is a book all horse owners should have
as a resource. The book gives an all round comprehensive
look into horse theft as it is today.
