Disabled Riding Center hit by horse theft in Australia

barNetpossenews.jpgApril 5, 2012 - Officials from the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Centre, in Officer are in shock that their two ponies used by disabled riders have been stolen

According to the Berwick-Leader News, Benny and Bozo were taken from a locked paddock overnight.

Lesley Hewitt, RDA spokesperson says, “Their loss is the latest in a run of thefts in the last month, totalling more than $20,000. 'It will hit the program hard.’’

Benny, a 9.2 hands 14-year-old skewbald Shetland pony is branded with a star over C, LS on his left side and a 1 over an 8 on his right.

Bozo, a 12.3 hand liver chestnut Australian pony has a flaxen mane and tail. 

The thieves also took a ride-on mower and hay and horse equipment.

Anybody with information on any of the thefts should contact detective Sen-Constable Colin Beard, at Pakenham Police, on 5945 2559.
