MISSING PRESUMED STOLEN EQUINE, – Kit Kat – WASHINGTON
Benton City (Benton County), WA Monday, July 31, 2017
Kit Kat was last seen on July 29, 2017 according to her owner, Joyce Roberts. Sometime during the night/early morning on July 30, 2017, Kit Kat was taken from her pasture. Kit Kat is a 4 month old filly that had not yet been weaned from her mother.
Ms. Roberts asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating her horse. Ms. Roberts has notified the Benton County Sheriff Department of the missing presumed stolen horse.
Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also known as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft and equine ID education and assist in search and recovery of stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.
“I am very sad for the baby not knowing what has happened to her. Is she suffering, starving, injured, being cared for?”, says Joyce Roberts. “I feel violated, unsafe, I fear for other horses as not sure if they will be stolen now. Am I going to find another horse gone?” Ms. Roberts went on to tell Stolen Horse International, that this has completely changed everything about how she does things. She informed Stolen Horse International that she doesn't feel safe on her own farm anymore. He has contacted Benton County Sheriff Department regarding the filly’s disappearance. They are actively investigating.
On July 31, 2017, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Roberts and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.
You will find Kit Kat’s webpage with information and a printable flyer in her NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. Anyone interested in helping can search for report number NR005292 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://www.netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=5292
“Circulating the flyer for Kit Kat as well as the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as they could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of Stolen Horse International. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post Kit Kat’s flyer in public places as well.”
Pictures, flyer, contact information, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Joyce Roberts, Benton County Department or Stolen Horse International with any information.
