Search under way for horse who disappeared from Arcadia Management Area

HOPE VALLEY, RI, Monday, July 27, 2015—Monday, July 27, 2015  the Susan Maynard’s beloved  horse was standing in the temporary pen when she went to sleep. Early Tuesday  morning there was a disturbance outside her trailer. She ran to check on her horse and he was gone! He’d vanished into thin air.

Susan Maynard, a resident of Conneticut,  asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating their horse Sailor, a 15  year old sorrel (reddish color)  Quarter Horse mare, who is believed to have run away. Maynard has  filed a missing horse report with the State Police Hope Valley Barracks, Wildlife management and the rangers in the park.

Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also know as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft  and equine ID education and assist  in search and recovery of  stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.

“Sailor was in her pen in the park in my camping area.”, says Maynard.  “I woke up with one of the horses screaming and Sailor was long gone!”

On July 27, 2015, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Maynard and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.

“There are many unanswered questions that pop into mind but the most important one is, where is Sailor? We hope you will help the Susan Maynard answer that question,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of the organization.

“I’ve had her for eight years,” Maynard further states, “I started searching for Sailor immediately and I have been searching for her since 2 o’clock this morning! This is like losing one of my kids!”

You will find Sailor’s  webpage with information and a printable flyer in her NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. People interested in helping can search for report number NR002571 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://www.netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=2571

“Circulating Sailor’s flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horses could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Metcalfe. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post Salior’s flyer in public places as well.”

Pictures, flyer, contact information, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Hope Valley Barracks State Police, the Arcadia Area Wildlife Management, the park rangers, the owner or Stolen Horse International with information.
